Fortnite's Alright? Certainly is for Christmas Presents!

Gah! Like all parents around the globe I'm sick to my back teeth hearing about blooming Fortnite!

"I was sat there waiting with my pump (pump action shot-gun) waiting to blow
em to smithereens....."
"Yeah, I was scoping the hills, sniping them as they came down."
"Whoah. The cube has moved. Dad! The cube moved and then it cracked and then (blah blah my brains outta here).... it was awesome!"
"I'm on level 99."
"Hah! You're a NEWB!*"
"Hah! NEWB skin! Gonna snipe them if I can be arsed!"
"Oooh, a Scar (a type of rifle, apparently). Scars are Cooool"
"Oi! That's my treasure! Mate, that's my treasure. Nah, you're alright mate. I've just been killed anyway...."
"Just one more game, Dad. It'll only take a few minuuuttesss....."
Etc etc etc.

Newb= Newbie = New to the game or considered such given the fact they haven't forked out a ton of money for a some virtual fancy-dress.

And so it goes on. After about 8 months it doesn't seem to be the fad I was hoping it is. So, with Christmas rocking around the corner I guess there is one positive we can take from all this. At least it gives us something to buy for the kids for Christmas!

When it comes to my two they've got all the equipment they need for football, a stock pile of books to read, they have pretty much lost interest in Lego and there's little point buying any other X-Box games until they stop playing Fortnite. 😄

So, if like me you find yourself facing the dilemna of what to buy your Fortnite-mad kids for Christmas I've compiled a few suggestions that might help.

I cannot "Floss". I've tried. Once. Maybe your little one can Floss like a Boss

Don't look like a complete Newb at school with this Fortnite back-pack, gym bag, lunch box and pencil case

Genuinely this is actually quite a good idea - Draw Fortnite like a boss!

Fortnite toys, games and stocking fillers. I have to say, though, a Fortnite Monopoly game? Wow! Just wow!

Get even better at playing the game. No more Newb status for you, sunshine! Anything that gets the kids reading is a good idea.

Oh, hello. It's actually coming out in disc format too! Perhaps for us oldies who don't get the online way of playing!

And, well, here's the best of the rest a.k.a miscellaneous.

So, there you have it. That's just scraping the surface of the Fortnite related stuff out there. Hopefully this will help you find something for your Fortnite made kids (or adults!). This search has certainly helped me pick out a few items for upcoming birthdays and for Chrimbo. I'm pretty sure they'll still be in to this game in a few months time.

Of course, if you're buying from Amazon then having Amazon Prime might help too.

Yay for October

I was tempted to explain to Luke that October has its origins with the latin number 8 (octó), which can also be found in words such as Octopus and Octagon.

He kinda likes languages so I would've mentioned some foreign numbers that are similar, such as:-
Ocho - Spanish
Acht - German /Dutch
Otto - Italian
Oito - Portuguese
Agt - Afrikaan
οκτώ - Greek

However, to do so I would need to explain why October is the 10th month, not the eighth. I'll leave that one for now.

Poor ickle fella

Aw, my little Ben has got chicken pox, poor ickle fella!

He was supposed to start at playschool on Monday, now he'll probably have to miss the whole week, and I'll have to work from home a couple of days to look after him.

Everytime we check him he has more spots and none of them are scabbing over yet. Here's a yucky picture to give an idea what his back might look very like soon! I can't take his picture right now because he's asleep.

chicken pox, but not Ben!

A friend of a friend of a ....you get the picture

Occasionally I'll hit the "next blog" button on blogger and see where it takes me. Other times I'll go to a friends blog, randomly choose one of their blog links and see what's of interest.

On this occasion I went to my friend Kerry's blog (http://windmillwatching.blogspot.com/) then went to her friend Kate's page (http://world-of-kate.blogspot.com/ -Kate also happens to be from the UK. Wolverhampton to be precise - here's hoping she prefers the stripey [and, ahem, baggier] side of the Black Country football derby! aye aye boing boing!)
From there I ended up somehow "C Jane enjoy it" (http://blog.cjanerun.com/) which then led me to Reagan's blob (http://www.reagansblob.com/) where I dwelled for a while. If you've ever read it you'll know why I spent a fair bit of time at Reagan's blob and why I was moved to write this post despite it being past midnight on a school night ( and I've got an all day workshop tomorrow...!)

Like most blokes I'm hard to move. Bambi and E.T. tried their best to no avail. But kids, well that's something different.

Read all the blogs above. They are all great people with great ways of telling their life stories. But promise me you'll stop by Reagan's and smile at the joy Piper brings to her and Jake's lives.

The philosopher

This morning I was jogging around the lounge (WII Fit, of course!) and Luke asked: "Dad, what are you doing?"

I replied: " jogging around in circles."

Luke's instant response to this was: "don't go around in circles. You'll end up back where you started."

Chuff Daddy

Yesterday Luke swam 4 lengths of the swimming pool (100metres) -okay no continuous but not bad for a 4 year old.

Apparently his tutor repeatedly threw a toy in front of him to encourage a straighter swim! AWE, HE'S MY PUPPY!

Also he raised a few quid for Macmillan's Nurses too, do that was nice.

As I type I have Ben asleep in my arm - Typing with one hand is a bitch and my arm (underneath Ben)is dead! Oh great - he's started snoring!

Woolite....it's a safetergent!

When I was getting dressed for work this morning I pulled out a blue t-shirt (Friday is dress down day -yay!) and as I went to put it on Luke pointed at it and said (ever so seriously) "Daddy, for all you dark clothes you need new Woolite to stop your clothes fading."

He's an advertiser's dream!!!!

If only TV could pass subliminal messages that improve kids behaviour!

Whoopee (cushion)

My bad.

Whilst searching for something on a shelf I found a whoopee cushion that had been confiscated from my son about 5 months ago.

He was stood right behind me and couldn't help giving it a squeeze.

PAAAAAARP!

Guffaws of childish laughter ensue (from him, not me!)

Anyway, I hand it to him thinking that after 5 minutes the novelty would wear off.Afterall, he is 5 months older.

45 minutes later and I'm still being dragged from my study into the lounge, instructed to sit down and act surprised at the trouser-rippling sound.

Blooming heck- he's here dragging me off again. Gotta go!
